- Half-fill the can and put it in their hands rather than on the table.
- Point at one pot. One pot, one instruction, then quiet.
- Pinch off a spent bloom yourself and hand them the next one to pinch.
Being needed by something that grows is the point. A puddle on the patio is a small price for that.
Scottsdale note
From November through March the patio is the best room in the house. In summer, move the whole thing to a kitchen windowsill and keep it to the early morning.
