Are these printable dementia worksheets really free?

Yes — free to print, free to copy, and free to hand to another family, a support group, or a care team. We wrote the clues and drew the pictures ourselves at Sweetwater Groves precisely so there would be nothing to license and nothing to buy. We only ask that the footer stays on the page.

What size do these print at?

Standard US Letter. The type is set large on purpose — nothing in a puzzle grid prints below roughly 14 point, and the drawings use thick, unbroken outlines that a shaky hand can stay inside. If you can, print on plain white paper rather than glossy: pencil takes better and there is less glare.

Which worksheet should I start with?

Start with what is still easy today rather than with a diagnosis. If your loved one still reads and enjoys an argument, begin with an early-stage sheet like the crossword or word search. If words have thinned but the hands still know what to do, begin with picture matching or sorting. If most connection now happens through touch and tone, begin with the hand script or the single-picture prompt.

Why do the pictures show old telephones and clotheslines?

Because memory reaches furthest into the years someone was roughly ten to thirty. A resident who is eighty this year was a child in the early 1950s, so a wall telephone with a long cord will open a conversation that a modern picture never could. Every drawing in this library was chosen with that in mind.
